I asked my daughter to tell me her top movies. She loves movies. We love clean modest content, and inspiring moral stories. So, we are choosy about her movies. I tried to include any objectional content so that you could decide if these movies are appropriate for your family. She chose these movies as some of the best of all time:
This movie has alot of girls in bikinis, and shirtless guys. There is also a photo shoot with a girl modeling a bikini. However, we let our daughter watch this because the faith of the main character is so sincere. I have also seen very conservative publications endorse this movie.
God’s Not Dead
This movie will be loved by adults also! It is a very good Christian movie. The acting and the storyline are excellent.
The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy
This set of movies was only $9.99 at time of posting and all together they are 557 minutes long! These movies are violent, but for a reason. They are based on books that depict the Biblical theme of good versus evil. These movies are so good that we watch them over and over. The spiritual insights of J. R. R. Tolkien are breathtaking.
This movie is VERY inspirational and very close to the historical account of William Wilberforce. This could be considered educational though it is so entertaining that you will forget that it is. (As far as objectional content there is at least one character that wears very low necklines.)
The Sound of Music
A classic that will be watched over and over again! (At the time of posting it was overpriced on Amazon, but sometimes the prices change so I left the link up anyway).
Yes she still loves this even though she is a teen!
Fiddler on the Roof
This is a very clean movie and our family considers this a classic.
The Book Thief
This movie is intense as it is involves hiding a Jew during the holocaust. It also has a few cusswords. But it is extremely well written and acted, and covers an important part of history.
October Baby: Every Life is Beautiful
This one will inspire alot of discussion. It shows what abortion is like for the mother, and for the child that survives the abortion.
The movie is based on a Jane Austen novel. Homeschoolers and Jane Austen fans will especially like this movie.
Sense & Sensibility (Special Edition)
This is another Jane Austen story. My daughter says this one is a little more meaningful than Emma because Emma is more of a comedy.
It’s A Wonderful Life (Black & White Version)
We usually watch this every year close to Christmas! It is a favorite of my teen daughter’s and it is pretty much my favorite movie of all time! 🙂
Do you know of any others to add to the list?
